Projection Mapping: Sound and Light 1821 - 2021


On Thursday, December 31st, 2020 and Friday, January 1st, 2021, the streaming of of the opening of the celebration by the Region of Ionian Islands for the 200th anniversary of the 1821 revolution took place.

The two-day online event premiered the projection mapping and the in situ performance that took place at Panagia ton Xenon in Corfu, specifically for the celebration of the year 2021 in the Region of Ionian Islands. The project "Sound and Light 1821 - 2021", which utilizes state-of-the-art audiovisual technologies to capture in a pioneering way the message of the anniversary, was designed and implemented entirely by the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University.

The initiative for the cooperation belongs to the Regional Governor of Ionian Islands Mrs. Rodi Kratsa - Tsagaropoulou and to the Rector of the Ionian University Professor Andreas Floros. The project was supervised by the Head of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Associate Professor Andreas Giannakoulopoulos, directed by the Associate Professor Konstantinos Tiligadis and coordinated by the Secretariat Mrs. Niki Alevizaki.

The artistic creation and the production is the result of a collective work of a multi-member team of collaborators of the Department of Audio and Visual Arts, under the direction of Associate Professor Konstantinos Tiligadis, with significant contributions in graphic design by Assistant Professor Angeliki Malakasioti, in music and sound design by the Associate Professor Apostolos Loufopoulos and in the scenario by the academic scholar Iakovos Panagopoulos.
